• Acknowledge your feelings; that you were hurt or are feeling angry 

• Work through your feelings: talk about it, write about it, cry about it

• Learn to let go of these feelings (It may take time)

• Forgiveness is NOT about forgetting, but about letting go of those feelings

• Letting go of the pain of the memory means that that it no longer controls us

• Forgiveness is about freeing up and putting to better use the energy consumed in holding on to grudges or resentment

• NOT forgiving is like drinking a cup of poison, and hoping the other person will die
