Job Opening: HIV Lay Counsellor

The PWID program, known as Step Up, housed at OUT Well-Being, that supplies health services to drug users in Tshwane, is currently recruiting for the following vacancy:

Lay counsellor focusing on HIV Testing and Counselling 

S/he will be responsible for the screening, testing and counselling of members of the PWID community for HIV, and other blood-borne viruses and health risks. S/he will be expected to complete all related administration, educate and inform the drug user community on the risks they face as well as assist the PWID program’s staff nurse. S/he will need to work closely with outreach staff where needed. HIV Testing and Counselling is conducted in-field, and is not office-based. 

HIV Testing and Counselling certification is mandatory. You must have at least one year’s experience with HIV Testing and Counselling services. This certificate must be attached with your CV, along with a clear photocopy of your ID. 

The position is based in Pretoria. There is a three-month probation period. Salary is negotiable pending on qualifications and experience.
