Job opening at OUT: LGBT International Human Rights Officer

Experience required:

 Medical degree with public health background 

 Experience in training, mentoring and coaching on improving quality of health promotion interventions, donor relations, as well as strategy and proposal development

 Work experience in big international NGOs and US funding mechanisms

 At least 2 years work experience in advising and supporting partner organisations in development and implementation of health promotion interventions

 Advantage – Experience in working with key populations 

Further Requirements

 Advanced understanding of linkages between HIV/AIDS, health, well-being and human rights in SADC 

 Willing to occasionally travel in region

 Computer literacy in MS Office Suite is essential

 Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, analytical skills, attention to details 

 Be able to work individually as well as part of a team

 Committed and innovative 

 Languages: Fluent in English a must, Portugese an advantage


 Working close in complimentary fashion with Program Manager , team and ad hoc consultants, trainers and researchers

 Providing technical advice on development and implementation of community based assessments 

 Providing training on health promotions for LGBTI

 Building capacity of project teams in training workshops 

 Facilitating the development of annual implementation plans 

 Guiding and monitoring program implementation and consulting with local stakeholders

 Reporting on the regional activities

 Facilitation and coordinating cross organisational learning and information exchange

OUT’s main focus is on the health issues of men who have sex with men (MSM) and LGBT people, hate crimes and community building.
