OUT’s Engage Men’s Health project has partnered with two shelters in Johannesburg to help them provide a more LGBTQ and MSM (men who have sex with men) affirming service.
We recently took some of our LGBTQ and MSM shelter beneficiaries on a hike along the Majakaneng Hiking Trail, outside of Pretoria North.
The aim was to create a relaxing and supportive safe space in a natural environment away from the shelter. The beneficiaries are from diverse backgrounds, and through hiking, they were able to share experiences and feel a sense of community.
The group also participated in various other activities during the day to create opportunities for openness and reflection on their personal values.
