Are you passionate about LGBTQ+ issues and eager to drive positive change? OUT LGBT Well-being is recruiting for new volunteer Board Members to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organisation and making a lasting impact on the LGBTQ+ community in South Africa.
OUT has been in existence for 29 years and serves South Africa’s LGBTQ+ community, primarily in Pretoria (Tshwane), Johannesburg, Nelson Mandela Bay, and Buffalo City. The organisation focuses on the health needs of LGBTQ+ individuals and Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), human rights (including hate crimes), and community building.
The primary role of Board Members is to provide strategic direction to the organisation, evaluate the Director’s performance, approve the annual plan and cash flow projection, review the annual report and audited statements, and provide ongoing operational guidance.
The Board meets between 4 and 6 times per year, with meetings typically lasting between 3 and 5 hours.
Volunteer Board Members should have a strong passion for LGBTQ+ issues, including health, human rights, service delivery, and equality, along with experience and skills in one of the following areas:
- Fundraising / Resource Mobilisation
- Psychosocial Well-being or Support / Social Work / Psychology
- Legal Expertise
- Medical / Health Science
