OUT provides direct health services to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, MSM, sex workers, and injecting drug users, including HIV testing, counselling, treatment and general lifestyle advice and support.

OUT has been in existence for more than 21 years and is dedicated to the building of healthy and empowered LGBT communities in South Africa and internationally, while reducing hetrosexism and homophobia in society.

Job opening at OUT: Registered Nurse

Responsibilities include: HIV Counselling and Testing, wellness adherence and referral, provision of ART (Anti-Retroviral Therapy), provision of PreP and PEP (Pre and Post Exposure Prophylaxis), viral load /CD4 monitoring and general HIV management, STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections) screening and treatment, TB (tuberculosis) screening and treatment, clean needles and wound care, overdose prevention. 

Requirements: An appropriate nursing qualification and qualified to prescribe needed medicines, maturity, strong project management skills, experience in working with LGBTI issues, specifically provision of direct services, and how to integrate this within the mainstream, and a focus of achieving outputs. 

The position is based in Pretoria. It is an initial three year contract renewable pending on funding and performance. There is a three month probation period. Salary is negotiable pending on qualifications and experience.

Our main focus is on health issues of Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) and LGBT people, hate crimes and community building.

We also have an integrated approach and our clinic serves LGBTI people, sex workers as well as people who inject drugs.

OUT offers exciting training to mainstream service providers and other interested parties. The training assists individuals to understand themselves as sexual beings.
Currently OUT distributes safer sex packs to a range of venues in Tshwane that are utilised by gay men and lesbian women. These packs also include responsible sex messaging, appropriate barrier methods and lube.
OUT's Engage Men’s Health project offers free and confidential sexual health services to gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM).
